Trucking Associations Pledge Their Support To “Wreaths Across America”

Most of the trucking associations and fleet companies have pledged their support and allegiance to the Wreaths Across America (WAA) in this holiday season. WAA is a non-profit organization that places wreaths on the graves of the veterans who have served their country with valor. Although the main wreath laying ceremony will take place on December 12, 2015, at the Arlington National Cemetery, the organization will place wreaths all over the country at different locations as part of their agenda.

The trucking industry and the U.S. Trucking Association have come forward to support the WAA in their effort to honor the veterans, who served their country and died in service. The trucking industry applauds their efforts for spending sufficient time and money to buy, transport, and place wreaths on veterans’ graves all over the nation.

The American Trucking Association has also, once again launched its Share the Road Truck program that will deliver handmade wreaths to Arlington Cemetery for the main ceremony of Wreaths across America. The truck carrying the wreaths will start from Maine and travel all the way to Arlington, driven by Eddie Hosegood and Jerry Charron of the XPO Logistics. Expressing his support for the program, Hosegood said, “The cargo we are hauling this week is the most precious cargo, to me. I am honored to get the chance to volunteer for this trip and show my support for the fallen soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”

The Share the Road Truck, carrying the precious cargo of wreaths, will be accompanied by a procession of other trucks from different freight liner and trucking manufacturers. In addition to the ceremony taking place at Arlington, over 900 veterans’ graves will be decorated this holiday season with more than 500,000 decorative wreaths. The Truckload Carriers Association will coordinate the above mentioned convoy of trucks as part of its Truckloads of Respect program.

Among the trucking companies taking part in this program, Omnitracs is the most notable. It is a major fleet management solution company, and has pledged over $25,000 worth of decorative wreaths to the Wreaths across America program for the 6th consecutive year. John Graham, CEO of Omnitracs said,”Omnitracs is humbled and proud to be able to join the ranks of other industry supporters to honor and commemorate those who have selflessly served and paid the ultimate price for our nation’s freedom. By pledging our support— financially and through employee volunteer efforts— Omnitracs hopes to underscore its ongoing commitment to the armed forces, while helping to carry on this valued, sentimental and important tradition and display of patriotism.”

Another organization, that will take an active part in the WAA program, is the TravelCenters of America which will initiate its Truckloads of Respect program to coordinate the wreath laying ceremony at Arlington. TCA’s internal distribution groups will be one of the many trucking companies that will haul the wreaths from Maine and transport them to Arlington. More than a 1000 locations in the U.S. will be hosting the wreath laying ceremony this holiday season, which will be an excellent way to honor the memories and bravery of American troops who gave their lives for their country.
