Trucker Driver Fatally Shot While Traversing I-88
A somber situation occurred on a busy interstate in Illinois last week. A truck driver from Florida was heading east when an unidentified person fired a round at him from a vehicle. While the driver, Eduardo Munoz, was able to pull his Volvo truck onto the shoulder of the road, he died shortly after being transported to a local hospital. He was 43 years old.
The truck Munoz was driving belonged to Illinois-based carrier DML Logistics. According to his fiancée, Munoz was heading to Northlake, an area where he grew up, after being on the road for a week.
According to those who knew him, Munoz was hardworking and active in his church. He was known for having a positive attitude and loved helping others. Reverend Larry Perez of the U-Turn Covenant Church in Northlake said Munoz was a volunteer at the community outreach program which helped serve hundreds of people and held an egg hunt during Easter.
The shooter has not been identified and an investigation is still ongoing.
