Truck Driver Killed in Accident Involving Another Truck

A truck driver in Utah was involved in a crash that claimed the life of another driver in Idaho. The accident occurred when Jeremy Sommers, a 22-year-old truck driver was traveling westbound on US 20/26/93. The accident occurred on Thursday just before noon.

According to the Idaho State Patrol, the driver, who is from West Valley City, Utah, was hauling three trailers, all loaded with hay. Roughly between Arco and Carey, the rear trailer flipped onto its side. This cause multiple bales of hay to tumble into the eastbound lanes. They were struck by another semi, this one hauling a utility box trailer.

The truck, which was driven by 31-year-old  Ryan James Yancey, of Portland, Oregon, then struck a large snow berm. Yancy died at the scene, while Sommers was injured. No citations were issued, but the crash is currently under investigation.
