Kenworth Chillicothe Plant Reaches The Half Million Mark
With a mission to build nothing but the best, Kenworth rolled out its first truck ninety years ago and hasn’t stop doing so since then. The company since then has continued to forge its reputation for durability, craftsmanship and engineering brilliance.

On February 23rd, 2016, the Ohio based company rolled out its 500,000th truck from the assembly line and to celebrate the success also inaugurated its latest in the trucking line –a Kenworth T680, a 76-inch mid-roof sleeper equipped with a MX-13 455-hp Paccar engine. The new truck was presented to Melton Truck Lines in the ceremony.

Presented at the ceremony, Preston Feight, the general manager of Kenworth and vice-president of Paccar stated, “Melton Truck Lines is an outstanding company that takes excellent care of its customers and drivers.” He further added, “Melton has supported its high standards by adding more than 500 reliable and comfortable Kenworth T680s to its fleet in the past two years, with 400 more to come in 2016. We very much appreciate Melton’s confidence in the T680, and we value our strong partnership.”

During the ceremony, Bob Preston, CEO and chairman of Melton Trucks lines, and his wife Cindy were presented with the keys to the new truck and also a commemorative tablet to value and strengthen the partnership between the two companies.

Bob was recorded stating, “The Kenworth T680 provides our fleet with exceptional fuel economy, reliability and driver comfort and helps us grow our business and provide dependable service. We truly value our partnership with Kenworth and MHC Kenworth. It’s an honor to be selected to receive the 500,000th Kenworth truck produced by the great employees here at the Chillicothe plant.”

Over the years, the company has acclaimed credibility with many recognized programs, and has also bagged the Plant of the Year award, presented by Quality Magazine. The award is considered as one of the most prestigious in the industry and was awarded to Kenworth for having the largest plant with a human resource of 250+ employees in 2006.

Judy McTigue, the plant manager at Kenworth Chilliocothe, couldn’t have been happier. Celebrating the company’s success and shedding light on the upcoming future for the brand, she recalled the time the first-ever Kenworth truck rolled out back in 1974. She stated, “This 500,000th truck milestone is a tribute to the excellent tradition of building quality, dependable, hard-working Kenworth trucks which began at Chillicothe with the first truck in 1974 and continues to this day.” – See more at:
