Georgia Truck Driver Charged in Fatal Crash
Virginia State Police have charged a Georgia truck driver in an accident that claimed the lives of two people.
The accident occurred at around 6 AM Saturday on Interstate 81 near mile marker 307 in Frederick County. A previous accident resulted in 34-year-old Milen Pepelyankov of Chicago being charged with improper stopping on the shoulder of the road.
During the investigation of this accident, police saw a tractor-trailer driven by 55-year-old Carl Paris come down a hill and rear-end a 2013 Mercedes. Unable to stop in time, the driver’s collision with the vehicle caused a chain-reaction involving five vehicles in total.
The driver of the Mercedes, 46-year-old Mihail Shmaydiy of Iowa, died at the scene along with his 12-year-old son Timothy.
