ATA Selects New Chairman
The American Trucking Associations is a well-known national trade association for the trucking field. This federation of 50 affiliated state trucking associations and industry related groups helps to make sure that truckers have a voice in important decisions that affect the industry.
Recently ATA’s Board of Directors elected Kevin Burch as the federations 72nd Chairman. Burch serves as president of Jet Express Inc., in Dayton, Ohio. Burch spoke about the decision, saying: “I am honored and humbled that my fellow ATA members have chosen me as their chairman for the next year. This is an industry filled with wonderful, dedicated professionals – from drivers and dispatchers to salesmen and executives – and I am privileged to represent them all as ATA chairman.”
Burch has been president of Jet Express for over two and a half decades. He has maintained a commercial driver’s license since 2008, and helped lead Jet to the highly regarded Dayton Chamber of Commerce Corporate Partner Award, as well as the acclaimed John H. Patterson Award.
Burch also worked as a chairman of ATA’s Communications and Image Policy Committee as well as the Truckload Carrier’s Association. In addition to his new position as chairman, Burch also serves as vice chairman of the Trucking Moves America Forward industry image campaign.
The position of chairman is one of considerable honor within the ranks of ATA. Pat Thomas, the vice president for state government affairs at UPS Inc., served the role prior to Burch. Thomas said: “Serving as ATA chairman has been a singular honor for me and my family. I’d like to thank the ATA staff, the state association executives and my ATA members for the chance to serve as your chairman. I wish Kevin all the best and believe he will be an outstanding representative of our industry.”
