2018 Best Fleets Competition Opened by TCA and CarriersEdge

Culture, vision, and dedication – these are just a few of the things modern trucking companies strive for when they look to reach the very top of their industry.

There was a time when trucking companies focused almost solely on the basics. Bringing goods from point A to point B is important. It is, after all, the main task freight companies and commercial operators are hired for. But in order to stand out in a crowded industry, many companies have taken things a step further.

Cultivating a professional and welcoming company culture, espousing values in all areas of the job, and setting an example for other companies are just a few of the things high-earning trucking companies strive for. These top performers have been honored for nearly a decade by the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) and CarriersEdge through their Best Fleets competition.

“Innovation is a necessity for trucking companies to thrive in this ever-changing industry,” said TCA President John Lyboldt. “While keeping up with technological innovations is important for staying a step ahead of competitors, innovations in a company’s relationship with its drivers are the key ingredients for building a real team.”

There are a few eligibility requirements that entrants to the competition must meet before they will be considered. Their company must have at least ten trucks and operate in the U.S. or Canada. The company must also be nominated online, and all nominations must come from professional truckers.

The nomination period opened on September 5th, and will run throughout the month of October. After a company accepts a nomination, they’re contacted with an electronic questionnaire and telephone interview. Management and a random selection of drivers from the company will be consulted to learn about the organization and how it operates.

The program is designed to provide benefits to the industry year after year, with each contest offering insight as to strategies carriers should pursue to grow steadily. As more information is gathered from the best and brightest in trucking, it is easier for the industry as a whole to elevate itself.
