2016 Best Fleets to Drive Announced

2016 Best Fleets to Drive For has been announced this running week by CarriersEdge and The Truckload Carriers Association. Best Fleets to Drive For® is a yearly contest and survey produced by CarriersEdge, in partnership with Truckload Carriers Association to recognize the for-hire trucking companies from across North America that create the best experience for their drivers and owner operators.

The results for the 8th national survey and contest were announced on Monday, January 25, 2016. Only the companies who met the requirements of operating 10 or more trucks and having been nominated by at least one of their drivers or owner operators, were qualified to participate in the Best Fleets Program. According to the results, the top 20 for-hire carriers (bottom up) that demonstrate “outstanding” workplace experiences for their trucking employees are:

• Prime Inc., Springfield, Missouri
• Paramount Freight Systems, LLC, Ft Myers, Florida
• Nussbaum Transportation, Hudson, Illinois
• Motor Carrier Service, LLC, Northwood, Ohio
• Melton Truck Lines, Inc., Tulsa, Oklahoma
• Landstar System, Inc., Jacksonville, Florida
• Kriska Holdings Ltd., Prescott, Ontario
• Halvor Lines, Inc., Superior, Wisconsin
• Interstate Distributor Co., Tacoma, Washington
• Grand Island Express, Inc., Grand Island, Nebraska
• Fremont Contract Carriers, Inc., Fremont, Nebraska
• Challenger Motor Freight Inc., Cambridge, Ontario
• Central Oregon Truck Company, Inc., Redmond, Oregon
• FTC Transportation, Inc., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
• Boyle Transportation, Billerica, Massachusetts
• Bison Transport, Winnipeg, Manitoba
• Erb Group, New Hamburg, Ontario
• Bay and Bay Transportation, Eagan, Minnesota

Bay and Bay Transportation stood 1st while TransPro managed to bag the 20th place. Another five companies that received the honorable mentions by their inclusion in the “Fleets to Watch” are:

• Trimac Transportation, Calgary, Alberta
• Maverick Transportation, LLC, North Little Rock, Arkansas
• Crete Carrier Corporation, Lincoln, Nebraska
• Brenny Specialized, Inc., St. Cloud, Minnesota
• Boyd Bros. Transportation Inc., Clayton, Alabama

Jane Jazrawy, CEO of CarriersEdge, pointed out in the press release to the three recent trends of provision of flexibility in job structure and routing, designing of new entrant training programs and going digital and online with business, in the trucking industry.

Phase two of this contest will involve splitting up the top-scoring fleets into small and large categories from each of which a winner will be selected. The names of the overall winners are expected to be announced during the running year’s TCA’s annual convention between March 6 and 9.
